Camacho Negro
Today’s smoke was given to me by Dean from http://www.thebeerjournals.com/. I couldn’t find out many details about this cigar before this review, nor have I smoked these before. So in pure CigarSpy.com fashion, let’s get right to the review.
Pre-Smoke:
This box pressed cigar was firmly packed with tobacco, and the wrapper only had a few small veins. The dark wrapper looked nice, and the triple cap is always a nice touch on a cigar.
First Third:
The initial taste was a fairly strong spice and pepper. I’d say this cigar is starting off in the upper medium to lower full body range. As I progressed into it, I had hints of earth. By “Earth,” I mean a soil like taste or smell. Once or twice, I thought I had hints of co-co. The cigar wanted to burn in a slanted direction, and I had to correct it through out this part of the cigar. Overall, I enjoyed the first third, minus the burn corrections.
Second Third:
The strong pepper calmed down a bit, but remained present. The earthy taste also remained, but it stayed in the back ground. Towards the end of this third, a mocha flavor came in and was very nice. The burn issues calmed down a bit, requiring only a couple touch ups. I should mention, I had a decent nicotine buzz at this point.
Last Third:
This third went into the full body range. The spicy/pepper and co-co flavors continued. There was a coffee flavor with the same after taste as well. With around 1 to 1.5 inches left, things turned a little harsh, and my nicotine buzz was in full effect. I figured it was a good time to put it down.
Summary:
I enjoyed the cigar, except for the ending harshness. If stronger, fuller bodied, spicy cigars are your thing, you may want to give this one a try. But be warned, it does pack a bit of a punch.
Would I smoke it again? Sure, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find them. Now… On to the amazing picture slide show.
