CAO Brazilia Cariocas
In my quest for a good, fairly cheap, and smaller cigar, I gave the CAO Brazilia Cariocas a try. They come in a tin of 5, and cost around $8.00 – $10.00 a tin. I tried the Victor Sinclair Buddha, and it was decent. But I’m looking for something a little more fuller bodied.
Due to the small size and short smoke time of 30-45 minutes, I’m reviewing the cigar in halves, instead of the usual 3rds.
Wrapper: Brazil
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 4X38
First Half-
Things started off well within the medium body range. The smoke was plentiful for such a small cigar. My only complaint so far is the burn was wavy and required a few touch ups. The flavors consisted of a nice, smooth pepper and earthy taste. As always, I had trouble pinning down all the flavors. But I’d say towards the end of this half, a slight chocolate or mocha notes crept in. Very enjoyable.
Second Half-
The smooth pepper continued, and the earthy taste faded a little. The chocolaty/mocha flavor increased a little, and a nice coffee-ish flavor crept in. The body crept up to the upper medium to full body range, and the burn problems went away.
Conclusion:
I smoked this down until it started to burn my fingers. For such a small cigar, I enjoyed it a lot. As far as flavor and body, it can hold it’s own against it’s larger counter parts. I will definitely be getting more of these. They fit the bill for a good, quick, and somewhat cheap cigar.
As always, on to the amazing picture slide show.
