Traveling With Cigars
You are headed out of town, and want to bring a dozen or more cigars with you. Traveling with cigars can be a problem. How can you transport your favorite cigars without damaging them, and what about humidity control? There are many options, and here’s what I do…
When I need to bring 12-14 cigars, I usually reach for the X-treme cigar protection box.

To control humidity, I bought a tube filled with 70% gel. I threw out the gel, and filled the tube with 65% beads from Heartfelt Industries. As you can see below, the 3 layers of padding protect your cigars, and the case provides an air tight environment.
Still need more space? Easy, get a Tupperware container. For humidity, another tube would work fine. I use a small container that had gel in it. Again, I threw out the gel, and used 65% beads. This air tight container does the trick. To protect the cigars that don’t come in cellophane, I wrap them in tissue. Below you can see what I did.
If that isn’t enough, I reach for this:
This durable case is ceder lined. I use it as a last choice only because it isn’t completely air tight. Again, I wrap the cigars in tissue if they don’t have cellophane. Humidity is controlled with beads exactly like in the the X-treme box.
I bring Xikar scissors and the trusty PB207 torch as well. For flying, your choices are limited. I haven’t been faced with that issue yet. I suppose you could bring a cutter in checked in luggage, and a disposable lighter or ceder matches.

MTR,
By bottled liquid, I assume you are referring to the 50/50 propylene glycol/distilled water solution. I used to use this a couple years ago. I always had problems of over humidifying my cigars, so I switched to a Cigar Oasis in the big humidor (with Heartfelt beads to suppliment it), and just beads in the small/travel humidors. I’ve had the best luck with this method.
I found that when I kept the smokes at 70% or above, I had draw problems, mushy cigars, and a less then optimal smoking experience. As soon as I went to 65%, my cigars just felt better. This is all personal preference of course. And I am definately not an expert.
Hope this helps.
