Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra & Chivas Regal 12 Year Blended Scotch
After Thanksgiving dinner, I sat down with a Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra and sipped on Chivas Regal 12 year blended scotch. This is the first time I’ve ventured away from my usual single malt scotches. This particular drink was very smooth, with a finish that lasts for about a minute. It did a great job at cleansing the pallet for that next puff of the Edge Sumatra. If you are seeking a blended scotch, I’d say give this one a try.
Size
: 6 x 52 (toro)
Wrapper: Sumatra
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama
Price: $5 – $7.00 (?)
Construction:
The Sumatra wrapper was nice, with medium sized veins. The cigar was firmly packed, but after clipping, the draw had that slight resistance that I consider perfect. The burn line was almost perfect, requiring only one or two touch-ups.
Flavor:
The first third started off with a smooth, sweet taste. It lingered on the pallet for about 20 seconds.
As the second third progressed, slight mocha notes entered the picture. Nutty flavors came in as well, and blended nicely with the sweet notes that dominated the flavor profile.
The final third consisted of fairly strong mocha and nutty flavors. The smooth, sweet flavor also dominated. The finish (aftertaste) left a nice, cool sensation on the tongue and lips.
Conclusion:
This was a great full bodied cigar. The flavors complimented each other nicely, and my review doesn’t do it justice. I would strongly recommend that you give this one a try.

It’s “Palate” NOT “Pallet,” geez!
