I agree the boceda packs are the best, 100x better than the beads or anything they take up almost no space you can pick your humidity level, use it for 6 months chuck it and if your part of the mailing list a new one will be on your steps. Just throw it in and forget it. Perfect for travel humidor or if your tryin to age your sticks and dont want to keep opening up your box, or if you have multible humidors. Hell I trust these so much I dont even use a hygromoter anymore. It just works

The Boveda packs work great and take up no space. You can rest the cigars on them and not worry about any damage. Check out their website - could be worth a future review. I also use them in my travel humidor which is the Armored Humidor.

Homebrewer - Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. I guess if you know how far a non-adjustable hygrometer is off, then you could just subtract or add to get the actual reading. Personally, I would rather calibrate a good one and be done with it. You can't beat the beads or puck, period. They just work!

CWS - Never thought of using the Boveds packs like that. Hey if it works why not? Personally, I stick with the beads in everything, even the travel humidors. Those guys need to sponsor this site!

nice tutorial Tom. One thing that should be stressed more is that the digital hygrometer that can be CALIBRATED. For the first 6 months of smoking I thought I was humidifying my sticks properly only to find out after getting a new hygrometer (that I could calibrate) that my old one read almost 10 RH higher than the humidor actually was. A unit that can be calibrated is the only way to go.

I personally use the 65% RH beads from cigarmony and I will never go back to anything else. They are so simple and accurate.

Boveda Packs - pick your humidity level and you're done. I have them automatically sent to my house every three months. I'm extremely happy with them and my cigars seems quite content as well.
