Oliveros XL for men double corojo
Thanks to Duque Cigars for the grab bag of smokes! This time around, I grabbed the Oliveros XL for Men Double Corojo. When I saw the name on the band, I thought it was pretty silly, “XL for men.” But who am I to judge without trying a few. I paired this cigar with water, and banged out today’s review.
Wrapper: Corojo
Binder: Dominican Cuban seed
Filler: Dominican, Corojo, Nicaraguan & Honduran
Size: 5 x 52
Price: $4 to $5.00

Pre-Smoke/Construction:
Overall, the cigar looked nice. When squeezing, I found a couple soft spots. The wrapper was a little veiny with minor cosmetic flaws. When sniffing the wrapper, I noticed a sweet, grassy, earthy smell. The foot had a similar smell, but with more spice and sweetness. The pre-light draw was free, and had woody, sweet notes to it. The ash held on for well over an inch, and I did a total on ZERO touch-up’s to the burn. The burn line stayed pretty straight the entire time.
Flavor:
The first third went really well. The first thing I noticed was tons of smoke coming from this thing. It had woody notes combined with a sweet spice. Simple but good.

The second third continued with that prominent woody flavor. A sweet spice lingered when exhaling through the nose, and I noticed very slight nutty notes. The smoke became very smooth as well.

That woody flavor remained in the last third. A coffee-ish flavor reared its head at times, as did nutty notes. The sweetness remained, and almost turned into mocha. I thought a few times I detected mocha, but it never truly developed. It tried to though.

Conclusion:
This was a good medium to upper medium bodied cigar. Although this review probably makes it sound somewhat boring, it wasn’t. This cigar helped me relax, and really was enjoyable. I definitely give it a thumbs up, and recommend that you give it a chance.
