Perdomo Champagne
Perdomo… You’ve seen my rants of positivity concerning this cigar company. The Champagne is up there on my list of favorite Connecticut wrapped smokes. Many times when I can’t decide what to have, I’ll reach for the Perdomo Champagne. Despite the fancy name, the price isn’t too bad either. For tonight’s review, I am pairing up with water. Let’s see how it goes…
Wrapper: Connecticut aged over 6 years
Binder & Filler: Nicaraguan

Pre-smoke & Construction:
Giving the cigar the ol once over, I found the tan wrapper looked great, with minimal veins. Squeezing the length of the cigar revealed no soft spots. Sniffing the wrapper produced a sweet, rich, woody smell. The foot smelled of a slight spice and natural tobacco. There were no specific flavors on the pre-light draw. Just a sweet tobacco taste. Despite moving around a lot inside and outside, I did no burn corrections, and the ash held for a little over an inch before I had to tap it into the ashtray.
Flavor:
As I dug into the first third, the smoke was thick and creamy from the start. Sweet earthy notes followed behind. Next in line was a smooth buttery texture and flavor. On top of everything was a slight sweet spice that was very smooth and easy.
The second third saw the body increase slightly, but stayed well within the medium body range. Those familiar buttery and creamy notes continued, while the earthy flavors decreased. The sweet spice held strong and added some pep to the overall flavor profile. Very nice…
The last third didn’t offer too much more. That sweet spice kicked up a notch and really kept things from becoming boring. All the while, the thick creamy texture along with buttery notes remained pleasant and up front. I may have detected some slight nuttiness very far back and faint. It was so slight that I may be misdiagnosing that flavor.
Conclusion:
You already know my final verdict. This is a good medium anytime of the day cigar. Sure, a lot of the flavors scream of “Another Connecticut wrapped cigar,” but this offered something more that my review is failing to explain. I’d put this over many high dollar cigars. For example, the Macanudo Vintage lines don’t even come close to this $5.00 cigar. Despite that, this cigar is easy enough for the beginner right up to the well seasoned smoker. Go get some!

Great stuff as always Tom. I think this is probably my all time favorite Connie wrapped cigar and the price can’t be beat.
