A Cigar Smoker’s Journal is a great site, and generates lots of traffic to my site as well. Definitely worth checking out.

When I started http://www.aspiringgentleman.com, there were a few people that really helped me get up and running by offering precious link space on their sites. Two of those people who helped me out were you and Barry (thanks!). It seemed like a lot of other site owners were set on minimizing their number of links, and wouldn’t even consider link sharing with me because I was too small at the time. I definitely learned from this experience that I wanted to run my site in a community-supporting way; I’m happy to link share with any related site, big or small.

It’s all good Luke! Even Barry got snubbed by some cigar sites when he started.

Just to play devils advocate, I think the main reason for smaller sites being snubbed initially is simple. There are a ton of cigar blogs out there, and they just come and go. Many newer blogs start strong and fizzle away within 6 months to a year. So many of the larger sites want to share link love with sites that have shown they’ll be around awhile. I totally understand this.

My take is… I’ll share link love with almost any fellow cigar blogger. If in time the site fizzles out, I’ll remove their link. It’s kind of a pain but worth the minimal hassle.
