Dona Flor Alonso Menendez Series

DSC07574

After a lengthy period of slacking, Ed and I are back at Stogie Review, where it all started in January 2008. Our first review was a Dona Flor cigar, and rightfully so. They offer something to the beginner and seasoned smoker. I was reminded of this while making this review. The subtle beginning leaves you unprepared for a flavor profile that explodes into rich sweetness and spice.

Soon Ed and I will be paying a visit to Mike from MikesStogies.com and Stogie411.com. We have done a few joint cigar reviews with Mike before, and they are always a good time. Keep an eye out for that one. In the mean time, take 24 minutes out of your day and join Ed and I as we review the Dona Flor Alonso Menendez Series.

Good job guy’s, always enjoy your reviews,it’s easy to ”get” what you guy’s describe the cigar taste like, and your honesty, thanks.

Nice to have you back. But, I’d ask a small favor: For those of us who either don’t have the time to watch a video (or are blocked from watching them at work!), how about a quick written synopsis of what you think of the stogie? Just a paragraph, like your written introduction to the video.

Gonna have to agree with Mike on this one! Glad you and Ed are back! It’s been too long. Can’t wait for the joint review with Mike…keep up the good work guys.

Sounds like a cigar I would enjoy very much. I love the Brazilian tobacco also. They know how to do it right.

Swede214 – I appreciate it. Ed has a more advanced palate, so if anything, I can dumb it down for normal people like myself. Although Ed is a good teacher.

Hogman – Always a pleasure. We will get together soon. It’s overdue.

Bennett – I will take that in to account. I have considered doing written reviews to accompany the videos for that reason. Perhaps a quick synopsis like you suggest would be easier.

Trav – True I forget doing these reviews is a good excuse to hang out and have a smoke with Ed. Gotta get back on track. Glad you enjoy the reviews.

Micah – I have heard differing opinions about Dona Flor, or tobacco from Brazil in general. Some say it tastes like cheap garbage. Others, like us, enjoy it. There is a unique flavor to tobacco grown in that region. I can’t pin it down.

Always good to see a review from Ed & Tom. Thank you. Sounds like I will be trying a Dona Flor Alonso Menendez Series cigar in the near future.

Sweet tobacco. I ran into Ed’s brother in Blacksburg VA. There is no mistaking a sibling of ED. My local tobacco shop guy disappointed me lately. He claimed tobacco only emits 2 or 3 flavors. I disagree. He sounds like you Tom. Tobacco has amazing range, especially for discriminating palates. Use your nose as much as your mouth. The range is there. Ed, what happened to the cool Citizen watch you used to wear. If you are willing I’ll buy it. Let me know. Thanks, Zach.
