Chris – I often wonder if Gurkha is selling seconds to those ultra cheap online shops. Hmmmm… As for me, I’ll take a reliable car over a Rolls Royce. Oh, that 80′s car was the Yugo. Yugoslavia made some horrible cars back in the day. Ugly too!

I’ve been purchasing cigars from shops, and online for about twenty years. A certain online retailer has been promoting Gurkha cigars in such a way that you end up thinking this is going to be the best cigar in the world. The “talk-up” for this brand is so over the top, that you know it’s gotta be B.S….but for what ever reason the persistant in your face promotion of Gurkhas had “forced” me to finally give them a try. When I saw a promotion on them (sorry I don’t even remember which blend it was) with a reasonable price. Every single Gurkha in that order was plugged up ,and burnt unevenly, to the point where I had to re-cut the cigar, which would then burn totally uneven again. Even if the cigar wasn’t raved up so heavilly , it would have been a major, unsmokable disappointment, but because of the crass build up in the catalogs, I would have to call Gurkha cigars nothing less than a scam….my experience with the Rolls Royce of cigars, turned out to be a broken down Hugo. They sucked.

Josh – Glad you stopped by. Gurkha has so many blends, they are bound to have some duds. It’s a mixed bag.

I think a large part of the online cigar community needs to be overthrown. Ego, status seekers, pandering, cliques, spam, illusions of grandeur, contrived alliances, and some downright shady people, overshadow the good, for now. There is some spillover into real life as well. So for now, I’ll be here, as always!
