Pacman - Fair enough. I think Gurkha has plenty of good blends. I admit, I like a lot of them.

Some of their shenanigans of the past just make them an easy mark. For me, it started years ago, when the Gurkha VP (forgot the name) got on CNN and claimed elaborate boxes did not effect the price. That was a lie, as I happen to know some boxes can cost a B&M up to, and over $50.00. AND, Gurkha doesn't allow refills. The shop has to buy a new box.

Combine that with the "Rolls Royce of cigars," and it screams for me to make fun of it. But, a good cigar is a good cigar. I can't argue with that.

Steve - Yo! I never knew that was your real name. Glad you stopped by!

Gurkha has gotten what I feel is a (mostly) undeserved bad rap. The Kaiser is to blame for some of this. At one point, he was putting on some cigars with...let's say less than ideal construction. He was coming out with many lines around the time, and even as a fan, I have to admit, he made some shit cigars. Absurd MSRP on some cigars dug the hole further. However, he has made far more good cigars, IMHO. Still have some Doble Maduros, Gold, the CI Purple Label Ancient Warrior, and many others. Not only were the good, but nearly all have aged very well (some I have from 6-7 years ago). The upshot is that Gurkha cigars can usually be had quite cheaply at auction, some specials, etc., especially if you go 5 and 10 packs and forego the fancy boxes. BTW, the Kaiser is also one of the nicest guys at events, and usually gives out some of the best stuff at big cigar gatherings, such as Cigarfest.
